The new movie, which stars Briton Andrew Garfield as the web-slinger, is not due to be released until July next year, but it is already stirring passions. The main complaints are that the effects aren't convincing, the movie seems too serious and some queried why there was another Peter Parker origin story only nine years after 2002's blockbuster Spider-Man.
Emma Stone, 22, who replaces Kirsten Dunst as Spider-man's love interest, says fans shouldn't jump to conclusions. "Spider-Man has this built-in fan base, where people already know the story and are going in with their own opinions and expectations, so you're either going to live up to them or let people down," she says.
