Sophisticated: Authorities discovered the entrance in San Diego's Otay mesa district, and found tracks (left) and a hydraulic lift    A 2,625ft-long drug-smuggling tunnel discovered running under the Mexican border has been described by police as the 'most sophisticated ever'.
The tunnel scheme, which links warehouses in San Diego and Tijuana, even has a hydraulic lift to take people and contraband underground.
It is the latest in a spate of secret passages found smuggling drugs from Mexico into the U.S.
Mexican soldiers found the entrance on the south side of the border at a Tijuana warehouse, near the airport, after the U.S. opening was discovered.
'It is clearly the most sophisticated tunnel we have ever found,' said Lauren Mack, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Diego.
Sophisticated: Authorities discovered the entrance in San Diego's Otay mesa district, and found tracks (left) and a hydraulic lift As U.S. authorities heighten enforcement on land, tunnels have emerged as a major tack to smuggle marijuana.
More than 70 have been found on the border since October 2008, surpassing the number of discoveries in the previous six years.

After eight months in existence Hard Copy has just passed the 7,000 reader mark so it's time for a bit of self-congratulatory back-patting.
One of the 7,000, I'm delighted to say, is the lovely British actress Andrea Riseborough, who stars in the crime thriller Brighton Rock and is in contention for an Oscar nomination for her role as Wallis Simpson in Madonna's W.E., the story of Wallis and King Edward V111.
Andrea has dropped me a note to say she reads Hard Copy and, quoting the blurb, says "it does indeed appeal to someone, somewhere at some time...that person might be me!"
And, referring to one of my news items, she asks: "P.s. Did they ever discover if the Alien was 'real'?"
Keep reading, Andrea!

Oneal  A fake doctor suspected of injecting a woman's bottom with cement, super glue and tyre sealant to give her a more 'shapely' rear has been arrested.
Transgendered woman Oneal Ron Morris, who by his/her own picture appears to have undergone the 'butt-boosting' procedure himself/herself is accused of administering the potentially lethal shots to at least one victim.
Oneal Ron MorrisThe 30-year-old, who police say is a man but appears to look like a woman, was detained in Florida for the alleged incident in May 2010. Miami Gardens Police Department Sgt William Bamford said Morris first met with the victim to discuss the procedure.
He said: 'They agreed on the price of $700, which was intended for cosmetic purposes.'
But instead, police say the victim was given a series of injections containing cement, mineral oil and Fix-A-Flat tyre inflator and sealant.

Bamford said: 'A short time later, she develops very serious pains, abdomen, throughout her body. She knows something is wrong.'
He said the woman visited two local hospitals, before heading to Tampa General Hospital, where she received treatment.

Any star who has spent time in New York knows Radio Man, the cheerful, bearded autograph hunter and celebrity seeker who can be found outside Manhattan’s major hotels and at film locations on the city’s streets.
The scruffily dressed Radio Man---so called because of the heavy transistor radio he always wears around his neck—has an encyclopedic knowledge of where stars are staying and where in the city movies are being filmed. All the stars know him and he estimates he has appeared in 100 movies including the new Batman film, in which director Chris Nolan cast him as a homeless man scurrying out of a subway station.
We caught up with him outside the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Central Park South, where he was waiting for an autograph and a chat with Charlize Theron, who was at the hotel promoting her latest film, Young Adult.
He had just been watching the filming of Spiderman at 81st and Columbus, where he had chatted with the star, Andrew Garfield, he said.
He will be seeing plenty more stars at the coming Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles where, he says, he will be going thanks to George Clooney who, he says, has hosted him there in the past.
Brooklyn-born Radio Man---real name Craig Schwartz---has had odd jobs throughout his life and was homeless at one time although he now has a roof over his head.
He also has a website, on which he posts pictures of himself and with celebrities.
“Check it out,” he said.

'The possibility this could be a genuine alien should not be discounted'
It's been a while since we've had a UFO sighting so it's good to report that not just a UFO has been seen but an alien being has been captured and stored in a refrigerator in Russia for two years.
The mysterious "lifeform" was reportedly kept cool by Marta Yegorovnam in the western Russian city of Petrozavodsk while she took pictures to 'prove' its existence.
The 'body' was reportedly retrieved by Miss Yegorovnam from a UFO crash site near her summer house in 2009.
She says she approached the flaming wreckage and crumpled metal which she described as 'unbearably hot' and near the twisted hulk lay the dead alien.

The 'creature' is two feet long, has an enormous head, large bulbous eyes and an appearance somewhere between a fish and a humanoid.
It also appears to have what looks like a string-like arm protruding from its body.

Naturally, Miss Yegorovnam did what most people would in the same situation and stored the alien in her fridge for two years, according to Unexplained Mysteries.
The website reported that two men turned up at her home a few days ago and confiscated the corpse for investigative purposes, claiming to be from the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The footage was unearthed by noted paranormal writer and expert Michael Cohen.
Mr Cohen, 40, said: 'This could be an elaborate hoax, however the possibility that this might be a genuine alien should not be discounted.
'Russia is a hotbed of UFO activity and possible alien craft has been tracked by both military and civilian agencies.
'In all likelihood most alien beings would look strange to us, much like this specimen.'

A surprise inspection in a prison in Mexico has revealed the presence of 19 prostitutes, 100 plasma televisions, two sacks of marijuana, and 100 cockerels for cock fighting.
Map of Mexico  The discovery in the prison in Acapulco came as police prepared to transfer the inmates to a maximum security jail, reports the BBC.
The officers also found six female inmates living in the male section of the prison and two peacocks.
Mexican jails are notorious for overcrowding, corruption and rioting.
It is not the first time luxury items and weapons have been found in a Mexican jail.
In July, prisoners in a jail in Sonora state were found to be running a lottery to raffle off a luxury cell they'd equipped with a refrigerator, DVD player and air conditioning.
An inspector from the State Commission for the Defence of Human Rights, Hipolito Lugo Cortes, recently denounced conditions in five prisons in Guerrero state, among them the one in Acapulco.
He said inmates were running affairs at the jails according to their own laws and customs, with little or no control by prison authorities.

Put a lid on it...the offending Larry Crowne poster

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were given a less than Hollywood reception for the Spanish release of their film Larry Crowne.
A poster for the film that shows the lovestruck duo riding a scooter without helmets has fallen foul of Spain's advertising watchdog, who slammed a €30,000  fine on the poster's distributor, Tripictures. To the surprise of Hanks and Roberts, promoting reckless driving has been banned in Spanish ads since 1985.
Still, a source at Tripictures is incensed. "When the fine showed up in the post we thought it was a joke," an insider told the Cinemania website. "We didn't even expect something like this when we distributed the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

Kate Bain holds a pair of silk bloomers belonging to Queen VictoriaA large pair of silk bloomers that belonged to Queen Victoria have sold for more than three times their original estimate.
The undergarment, auctioned alongside hundreds of other royal artefacts, sold for £9,735.
Two pairs of silk stockings worn by Britain's longest serving monarch also went under the hammer in Edinburgh - one pair selling for more than £5,000.
The collection belonged to the US publishing dynasty, the Forbes family. It had previously been held in Old Battersea House - the London home of the family.
More than £3m was made in the sale of Victorian treasures held by auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull at their Edinburgh salesroom.
Two paintings were sold for more than £500,000 each.
A painting by Sir John Everett Millais titled "For The Squire" went for £553,092. Another - "The Princess Chained To A Tree" by Sir Edward Burne-Jones - made £505,000.
'Global interest' And an oil painting of Queen Victoria and her faithful servant, John Brown, went for £145,250.
Nick Curnow, managing director at Lyon & Turnbull, said the 20in by 24in painting was particularly valuable, because it was a personal gift from the Queen to Mr Brown.
It depicts the pair on 26 August 1876, the year her servant celebrated his 50th birthday.
The sale also included more than 500 royal paintings, letters, furniture and other items from the Forbes home.
Simon Edsor, director of The Fine Art Society and art adviser to the Forbes family, said: "This is a great result and demonstrates how much interest from around the globe there is in royal memorabilia."
